CSRF (Central Sharonlea Residents Forum) is a non profit company whose primary focus is to create a safe and secure environment for the residents of Central Sharonlea. While CSRF is the legal entity the residents association now operates as the GSRF (Greater Sharonlea Residents Forum) due the incorporation of other sections of Sharonlea.
Over the years a committee of local residents have dedicated their free time to ensure that all Central Sharonlea residents benefit from the best security solution that contributors can afford. CSRF is a resident’s forum set up more than 14 years ago to address what was then an intolerable crime situation. A group of unpaid volunteers canvassed the suburb and encouraged residents to support an initiative to solve this problem. This proposal was enthusiastically received by most of the residents and CSRF came into being. Central Sharonlea was one of the first suburbs to implement access control by means of booms and this system was initially successful.
After a few years however, crime started to rise again and other steps became necessary. Foot and bicycle patrols were introduced and these achieved the crime reductions that were hoped for. In an effort to remain in the forefront of crime prevention, cameras were introduced initially only at the entrances to Central Sharonlea and this has expanded into a fully fledged camera system not only for Central Sharonlea but also for Upper sections of Sharonlea that were not previously covered. In conjunction with this armed patrols where introduced as a more effective way of monitoring the suburb.
The camera system and armed patrols all cost money. If all residents contribute the small monthly contribution , these systems can be maintained and extended as necessary.
Through its ongoing efforts GSRF has secured a dedicated armed patrol vehicle for our suburb, manned by our service provider Stryka Security.
